HEAD TRAUMA Head trauma at any age can increase risk of dementia, emphasizing the need to look after your brain earlier in life, when risk of head injuries is greatest. Fact 1. 70 - 87% of boxers have clinical brain damage. (Lundberg 1985) Fact 2. Even mild head injuries have a cumulative effect (e.g. repeated concussions during sporting activities) and prevention is the only cure. (Dr Stephen Kiraly - The Healthy Brain Program) Fact 3. There is increased risk of developing Alzheimer’s disease in people who have experienced head trauma.
