Each of the
Walks is dedicated to an Honoree – a person who has been impacted by Alzheimer’s disease or other dementia.
This
Investors Group Walk for Memories is dedicated to
Carrol Horne.

High school sweethearts Carrol and Terry Horne have been married for 47 years. They have three adult children and eight grandchildren aged three to 15.
Carrol, now 67, was born and raised in Langley. She is the daughter of the late Langley veterinarian Elford Nundal, who served Langley Township as alderman and mayor between 1974 and 1987.
Despite a diagnosis of Alzheimer’s disease, Carrol remains extremely active and optimistic — a great example to the Alzheimer Society of B.C. support and education groups to which she and Terry belong. An avid swimmer, twice a week she does 60 lengths of her large community pool. She also walks her cocker spaniel every day and is a talented ceramics artist. “Exercise is good. Doing it, I always feel better,” she says.
Living with dementia may be difficult —“nobody knows what it’s like not to have things in your head,” Carrol says — but a positive attitude makes a huge difference. “I don’t like the idea of getting depressed, so I just keep going. You can’t let it get to you.
“I don’t want to stop. I haven’t done all the things I want to do yet.”
Let’s get walking, Langley, Aldergove and Abbotsford, for a very brave Carrol Horne and more than 70,000 individuals and families in B.C. who are living with dementia.
