Each of the Walks is dedicated to an Honouree – a person who has been impacted by Alzheimer’s disease or a related dementia.

This
Investors Group Walk for Memories was dedicated to
Claire Kirk.
Caring for people with Alzheimer’s disease or
dementia is a demanding and sometimes difficult journey, requiring hard work, patience and
compassion.
In acknowledgement of her commitment, Claire Kirk of Dawson Creek is the honouree for this year’s
Investors Group Walk for Memories. Claire worked for 25 years as the first Case Manager for Long Term Care in Dawson Creek. She was instrumental in launching the local Meals on Wheels program and a support group for caregivers, as well as in creating Circle of Friends -- a volunteer-driven, visitor service for shut-ins.
Claire has worked tirelessly, serving within her community as a client advocate and activist.
“People diagnosed with Alzheimer’s disease are done a great disservice if they are not referred to the Alzheimer Society and a representative in their area. The Society offers information and resources about the disease, and emotional support to clients and their families,” said Claire.
