Mark Madryga’s forecast for warmer weather this winter due to El Nino is great news for this year’s walkers! The local meteorologist for Global TV BC and CKNW 980, was at Eaglequest Golf at Coyote Creek recently to help kick-off the countdown to the Investors Group Walk for Memories (pictured here with John Fearn, this year’s honouree for the White Rock/Surrey Walk). Madryga is the honourary provincial chair of the Walk.

On January 31, 2010, 19 communities across British Columbia will be honouring local individuals and families who have been impacted by Alzheimer’s disease or a related dementia as part of the Investors Group Walk for Memories. The fundraising event is held every January as part of Alzheimer Awareness Month to raise funds that will ensure British Columbians who are living with or affected by the disease can connect to local support services and education. Money raised also funds vital research.

The Investors Group Walk for Memories is a great family event and healthy way to kick-start the new year. To register, go to www.walkformemories.com.
