Each of the Walks is dedicated to an Honoree – a person who has been impacted by Alzheimer’s disease or other dementia.

This Investors Group Walk for Memories is dedicated to Joan Garrett.

Joan Garrett, a mother of three and grandmother of four who grew up in North Battleford, Saskatchewan. She supported her husband in his career as an investigative reporter with CKNW for 45 years. In 1956, she married George Garrett and moved to New Westminster, British Columbia.

Joan is the source of strength and love in a close-knit family and has always demonstrated incredible courage to carry on in the face of adversity. Her family remembers that when Joan’s only son Ken died, she focused on taking care of her grandchildren and showed them lots of love.

Through the Alzheimer Society of B.C., Joan’s family gained better understanding of the disease and how to accept changes that take place from week to week.

Let’s get walking White Rock, Surrey & Delta - for Joan Garrett and the more than 70,000 individuals and families in B.C. who are living with dementia.
