Each of the
Walks is dedicated to an Honoree – a person who has been impacted by Alzheimer’s disease or other dementia.
This
Investors Group Walk for Memories is dedicated to
Wendy Buffie.

Wendy was born in 1948 in Port Alberni, which remained her lifelong home. Her three daughters fondly remember her as a dedicated mother, grandmother, daughter, sister and wife. Wendy was devoted to her family and took great pride in family traditions, including regular family gatherings. She was a thoughtful friend, and while she was quiet by nature, Wendy had a wonderful sense of humour that left everyone smiling.
Wendy devoted herself to her children’s happiness, and was actively involved in both their academic and extracurricular activities. Wendy worked at Canada Post for 19 years, up until she could no longer work. She loved doting on her four grandchildren and was a loving and supportive role model. Even throughout her illness, Wendy remained dignified, courageous and strong.
As a way to cope with the changes brought on by dementia, some of Wendy’s family members attended Alzheimer support groups, hosted Coffee Break® events and educated themselves on the disease. Wendy’s friends and family hold on to warm memories from years past, such as spending time at their summer cabin where Wendy loved to collect rocks and shells, sing campfire songs, and spend time by the beach.
Let’s get walking Port Alberni – for Wendy Buffie and the more than 70,000 individuals and families in B.C. who are living with dementia.
