Each of the Walks is dedicated to an Honoree – a person who has been impacted by Alzheimer’s disease or a related dementia.

This Investors Group Walk for Memories is dedicated to Jim and Bev Buckman.

Jim and Bev Buckman were both born in Saskatchewan and moved to Prince George in 1955 where they were married. Together they raised their three daughters and developed strong ties to the community where they have watched their children and grandchildren grow.

Their daughter Sandra fondly remembers fishing with her dad while discussing world events and politics, while her mom has been a shoulder for her to lean on.

Jim developed vascular dementia as a complication of his diabetes and passed away in August 2009. Bev was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s disease in 2008. After their diagnoses, the family began attending workshops with the Alzheimer Society of B.C. “We have received very helpful information and we continue to learn more while receiving support” said Sandra. Both Jim and Bev have helped others throughout their lives and Bev feels, “community events like the Walk will help raise awareness and in turn help more people along the journey with Alzheimer’s disease.”

Let’s get walking Prince George - for Jim and Bev Buckman and the more than 70,000 individuals and families in B.C. who are living with dementia.
