Each of the Walks is dedicated to an Honoree – a person who has been impacted by Alzheimer’s disease or other dementia.
This Investors Group Walk for Memories is dedicated to Jim Boileau.
Jim Boileau was born in New Westminster in 1931 and later made his home in Port Coquitlam. Jim is described by his family as being active and a sports enthusiast. He played baseball, soccer and lacrosse. Jim enjoyed and attended many May Day Parades, and began volunteering his time as a volunteer fireman at the age of 14. He eventually became one of the first paid firemen in Port Coquitlam, and retired after 42 years of service. Jim also gave back to his community by participating in the Empty Stocking Fund and M.S. Fund.
Jim is a family man and has hosted many family gatherings with his children and grandchildren. He has shared his love of the outdoors with his family, and together they have gone fishing, on ATV rides, and snowmobiling at Gun Lake. In order to help cope with the disease, Jim and his family have used the services of the Alzheimer Society of B.C., including the Shaping the
Journey™ education series and regular early-stage meetings both for Jim and his wife Dolly, his primary caregiver. Jim is admired for being a supportive member of his community, an outdoor enthusiast, and a loving family member.
Let’s get walking Tri-Cities, Burnaby, New West, & Ridge Meadows - for Jim Boileau and the more than 70,000 individuals and families in B.C. who are living with dementia.
