Each of the Walks is dedicated  to an Honoree - a person who has been impacted by Alzheimer's disease or a related dementia.

This Investors Group Walk for Memories is dedicated to Grizzly Muchow.

Grizzly Muchow immigrated to Canada from the United States in 1972, and received his Canadian citizenship in 1977 - of which he was very proud. He taught secondary school Art, Physical Education and English during his 16-year teaching career and, with his wife Cindee, operated a photography studio while raising two children on a farm in northern Alberta. The family and photography business relocated from Manning, Alta. to Salmon Arm in 1988, where Grizzly established himself as a “Camera Artist”. He was an outdoorsman, a sportsman, a martial artist; an honest, compassionate man with a great sense of humour, who was actively involved in the community.

He and Cindee turned to the Society for support and education following his diagnosis and both joined support groups. Before Grizzly’s passing in January 2008, he expressed his struggles on the dementia journey in his journal: “I’m a stranger to myself,” he wrote; however, he prefaced the journal with, “May my words lift and comfort you in your struggle for peace in your own head!”

Let's get walking Salmon Arm, Enderby & Armstrong – for Grizzly Muchow and the more than 70,000 individuals and families in B.C. who are living with dementia.
