Each of the Walks is dedicated to an Honoree – a person who has been impacted by Alzheimer’s disease or other dementia.

This Investors Group Walk for Memories is dedicated to Jean Hambrook.

Jean Hambrook is a devoted mother and wife who has been married to Tom Hambrook for over 50 years. Tom says Jean has the most beautiful smile.

Born in Kamloops as the third-oldest of nine children, she married Tom on May 12, 1962. As Tom’s job in the forest industry required that he moved often, they lived in Rayleigh, Goldbridge, Kamloops, Lytton, Ashcroft, Princeton, Vinsulla, Nelson, and Barriere. Jean worked with Tom for 12 years, during which she encountered bears twice on the job.

She was an active member of the Thompson Valley Rock Club in Kamloops and the Yellowhead Lapidary Club of Barriere for people interested in collecting and processing fine stones. She does an excellent job of wrapping gem stones with silver and gold wire. Jean and Tom received information, and support during the progression of the disease from the Alzheimer Society of B.C. With this information, Jean and Tom learned how to work and cope with dementia.

Let’s get walking Barriere & Area - for Jean Hambrook and the more than 70,000 individuals and families in B.C. who are living with dementia.
