2011 Vancouver Walk

Each of the Walks is dedicated to an Honouree – a person who has been impacted by Alzheimer’s disease or a related dementia.

The 2011 Vancouver Investors Group Walk for Memories was dedicated to Bob and Betty Kellogg.

It was love at first sight when Bob and Betty met at a friend’s party in 1950. Since then they have actively explored and shared new hobbies and activities, whether backpacking, researching their family genealogies, or creating jewelry and native art carvings. At the age of 50, the two started ocean kayaking and since have continued to explore the BC coast.

After Betty’s diagnosis in 2008 they approached the situation as they did when planning a kayak trip to a new area, by gathering information and insight from people who have been on the same journey. Together they are showing it is possible to live a quality life after diagnosis.

"Our lives have changed but with the help of the Alzheimer Society of B.C. we have adjusted and found that we are able to continue to be active and enjoy the outdoor activities that have meant so much to us," says Bob.
