Each of the Walks is dedicated to an Honouree – a person who has been impacted by Alzheimer’s disease or a related dementia.

This Investors Group Walk for Memories was dedicated to Elva Coyston.

Born and bred in a Manitoba farming community, Elva Coyston has let few things stop her in her tracks. Moving to Penticton with her husband Ralph, she raised four children and worked as a licensed general insurance agent. She successfully battled breast cancer and is a proud ‘survivor’.

Elva met her diagnosis of Alzheimer’s disease a decade ago with characteristic dignity, grace and humour. “At least I have a disease that does not have any physical pain,” said Elva. With support from the Alzheimer Society, she became a stellar example of how to move forward and live well with this disease.

This is your opportunity to show Elva you care.

“Elva has made many friends with Alzheimer’s disease and being Penticton’s honouree for this year’s Investors Group Walk for Memories is a wonderful next step in her journey,” said Ralph Coyston. “She has a huge heart and always wants to help.”
