Each of the Walks is dedicated to an Honoree – a person who has been impacted by Alzheimer’s disease or other dementia.

This Investors Group Walk for Memories is dedicated to Janice Rees.

Janice was born on Sept. 11, 1943 in Berkshire, England. The middle girl in a family of three children, she was raised in Aldershot, Hampshire before immigrating to Montreal in 1965.

Janice loves her family, gardening, and quilting. She is a very proud Canadian where scarcely a day goes by without her saying, “We are so lucky to live in this lovely place.” She and her husband of 43 years, Adrian, have two daughters, one in Nelson B.C., and another in Urbana, Illinois. They have one granddaughter and another grandchild on the way.

Janice is a compassionate and caring person. She has been a member of Amnesty International for over 25 years and has helped with the settlement of refugee families. In 1990 she galvanized a church congregation into sponsoring a refugee family who remain family friends to this day. She is active in her church and community and even climbed Mt. Kilimanjaro in 1971.

Through the Alzheimer Society of B.C., Janice participates in Shaping the Journey™ and has enjoyed the camaraderie of other ‘Forget-Me-Nots’.

Let’s get walking Cowichan Valley - for Janice Rees and the more than 70,000 individuals and families in B.C. who are living with dementia.
