Each of the
Walks is dedicated to an Honoree – a person who has been impacted by Alzheimer’s disease or a related dementia.
This
Investors Group Walk for Memories is dedicated to
Mae Noble.
Mae, a community leader, raised a family, worked as a cleaner at the Haida Inn for 35 years, helped found the Independent Order of Foresters in Campbell River, was a member of the Eagles and organized the local Salmon Festival one year with her husband, Bruce. She and her brother are the third generation in their family to walk the journey of Alzheimer’s disease, traveling the path of their mother and grandmother. Mae was a founding member of the Alzheimer Society of B.C. support group in Campbell River.
She continues to travel and sail with Bruce and to garden daily. She is forthright about her Alzheimer’s disease, laughs when she forgets or makes a mistake and maintains her independence and active lifestyle, aiming to educate others through example. “I’ve been living well since my diagnosis two years ago, and I’m not dead yet,” she smiles.
Let's get walking North Island – for Mae Noble and the more than 70,000 individuals and families in B.C. who are living with dementia.
