Each of the
Walks is dedicated to an Honoree - a person who has been impacted by Alzheimer’s disease or a related dementia.
This
Investors Group Walk for Memories is dedicated to Vera Murray.
Vera Murray grew up in Oliver, B.C., where she married Bob, the love of her life. Bob was in the military so they moved around for several years while raising four daughters. After Bob retired from the military in 1969 the family was drawn back to the Okanagan and has lived there since 1971.
Vera is a very caring woman who is always giving of her time and unconditional love. After her four daughters left home Vera began concentrating her time on volunteering in the community where most of her efforts were spent as a coordinator of Meals on Wheels, which became a real passion for her.
“The local Alzheimer Society of B.C. support groups has been immensely useful for our family. They have offered us so much helpful information as well as a compassionate ear whenever we drop by or call about a problem. The BBQ’s and Christmas parties are such great events for us to attend, a way of communicating with others with the same problems.” says Bob
Let’s get walking Penticton - for Vera Murray and the more than 70,000 individuals and families in B.C. who are living with dementia.
