Each of the Walks is dedicated to an Honoree – a person who has been impacted by Alzheimer’s disease or other dementia.

This Investors Group Walk for Memories is dedicated to Audrey Jackson.

Born in Wainwright, Alberta on Aug. 3, 1931, Audrey grew up in Alberta, and also attended a post secondary institute in Edmonton. When she was 18, Audrey married Bob Jackson, on July 30, 1949. Audrey and Bob travelled extensively, due to Bob being a hockey player, until finally settling in Penticton in 1966.

In Penticton, Audrey quickly became involved in the community by volunteering many hours to various groups. She was a selfless individual with a passion for helping others. By the time of her death she was considered an exemplary wife, a beloved mother to three wonderful children, and a dedicated friend to all who knew her.

When first diagnosed with Alzheimer’s disease, Audrey joined the Alzheimer Society of B.C.’s Penticton Early Stage support group, and soon became a valued member. She was always willing to share her challenges as well as to support others in the group. Her openness and kind heart was a great contribution and made her an inspiration for many. Sadly, Audrey Jackson passed away on Jan. 27, 2010.

Let’s get walking Penticton - for Audrey Jackson and the more than 70,000 individuals and families in B.C. who are living with dementia.
