The Alzheimer Society of B.C. will begin offering the complete Family Caregiver Series education program to Cantonese-speaking families in Richmond.

The program is designed for family members who are caring for a person with dementia. Participants will be provided with information about Alzheimer’s disease and related dementias, personal planning strategies, and effective ways to provide care.

Topics to be covered in the series:

  • Understanding Alzheimer’s disease and related dementias
  • How to facilitate communication with a person with dementia
  • Problem solving for behaviours that concern us
  • Planning ahead to ensure the wishes of the person with dementia are honoured, and understanding the health care system
  • Self-care for caregivers

The program will be held on Nov. 19 and 26 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. in Richmond.
