Dawson Creek Walk

Each of the Walks is dedicated to an Honouree – a person who has been impacted by Alzheimer’s disease or a related dementia.

The 2011 Dawson Creek Investors Group Walk for Memories was dedicated to Mable Wolf.

Mable was born in Saskatchewan in 1933 and moved to Dawson Creek in her early 20’s where she met and married Karl Wolf. While raising seven children, helping with the registered swine operation and tending to their farm, she still found time to be a good neighbor in the community.

After the passing of her husband Karl, Mable moved from the farm to Dawson Creek where she became involved in several volunteer organizations including the hospital auxiliary, the Canadian Cancer Society and the D.C. Seniors Association

Since Mable’s diagnosis in January 2009, her openness and frankness in talking about this disease has helped many around her. She and her family have received support from the Alzheimer Society of B.C. in many forms. Mable’s family says it is comforting to know that when there are questions, the Society is there to help with information and support. Mable continues to live each day with dignity, doing all she can to contribute to her family and community.
