About the Walk
As the Alzheimer Society of B.C.’s flagship event, the Investors Group Walk for Memories takes place during January - Alzheimer Awareness Month.
The goal of the Investors Group Walk for Memories is to raise funds for the Society, increase awareness of Alzheimer’s disease and related dementias and promote healthy life choices to baby boomers.
Since its inception, the Investors Group Walk for Memories has expanded to include 13 communities province-wide, each year involving thousands of volunteers and participants. From Vancouver Island and Prince George, to the Okanagan and the Lower Mainland, the Investors Group Walk for Memories is truly a provincial event with deep community roots.
In each community, the Investors Group Walk for Memories is organized and operated by a local volunteer committee. Each committee is responsible for event day planning, community fundraising and walker recruitment, including walking teams. In 2007, over 100 teams represented 35% of our fundraising total!
The Alzheimer Society of B.C. exists to alleviate the personal and social consequences of Alzheimer's disease and related dementias, to promote public awareness and to search for the causes and the cures. The Investors Group Walk for Memories is one initiative that is helping us achieve these goals, one step at a time.
