We need you to join us and connect with your local MLA, encouraging him or her to continue to make dementia a health care priority.
| To implement the Dementia Service Framework: | |
| The Dementia Service Framework is a blueprint that sets out a vision: that people living with dementia will lead full lives, through a shared passion for action by all stakeholders.
It shows how we can establish a responsive and effective health care system in B.C. that’s dedicated to ensuring a high quality of life for people with dementia, their families and caregivers. The provincial government must continue to support the implementation of this important framework. |
| To change the culture of care in residential care: | |
To honour quality of life for people with dementia who are living in long-term care facilities, we need to see transformational change that will ensure care is individualized, and that the services are deinstitutionalized. The provincial government must commit to further research into delivering high quality care, to increase the attention given to improving the delivery of care in facilities, and to change the general culture of care. |
| To provide end-of-life care for people with dementia: | |
End-of-life care for a person with dementia requires an active and compassionate approach. This care should treat, comfort and support not just the person with dementia, but also their family and caregivers. The provincial government must include people affected by dementia in end-of-life programs. |
