New Spanish Cinema Week is coming to the Vancity Theatre in Vancouver (Feb. 10 – 16) and features a touching documentary about Alzheimer’s disease by Director-Screenwriter Carles Bosch, “Bicycle, Spoon, Apple.” The film follows Pasqual Maragall, the former president of Catalonia in Spain, who is diagnosed with Alzheimer’s disease and decides to make his diagnosis public.

“Bicycle, Spoon, Apple” provides an intimate look into the challenges faced by Maragall and his family, while illuminating some of the contemporary research and awareness activities being undertaken across the globe. People interested in gaining an international view on the effort to raise awareness for people living with dementia will be interested in seeing this film.

The Alzheimer Society of B.C. has provided print resources about the 10 warning signs of dementia for people who see the film this weekend on Sunday, Feb. 12 at 3 and 7 p.m.
