A diagnosis of dementia is hard to give but it is even harder to hear. There is help available.

If you are concerned about memory loss, these resources can help you:

  • www.letsfaceitbc.ca provides information and resources to help you or a loved one who is concerned about memory loss to understand the warning signs and prepare for a diagnosis from a doctor.
  • The First Link® program is an option for a prescribed course of action available to families who have just received a diagnosis of dementia. Individuals and families receive an information package, connection to Alzheimer Society of B.C. education programs and support groups, and referrals to other community and health-care services.

If you or someone you know has been recently diagnosed with Alzheimer’s disease, ask your family doctor for a formal referral to the Alzheimer Society of B.C.’s First Link® program and we’ll be able to connect you with support throughout the journey.
