A tradition of the Investors Group Walk for Memories is to dedicate each community walk to an Honoree—a person who has been impacted by Alzheimer’s disease or another dementia. This year, the Walk is taking place in 24 communities across the province, and some inspiring British Columbians will be honoured on Sunday, Jan. 29—people like Jim Mann.

Jim was diagnosed with Early Onset Dementia in 2007 at the age of 58. He decided to take control of his journey with Alzheimer’s disease by becoming a strong advocate for people with the disease. He is a member on the board of the Alzheimer Society of B.C. and the national board of the Alzheimer Society federation. Jim is also on the advisory board of the Canadian Dementia Knowledge Translation Network and the community advisory committee with the Centre for Research on Personhood in Dementia. Jim offers the Alzheimer Society the talents that served his brilliant career in the transportation and tourism industry: advocating and educating.

Jim will be honoured this Sunday at the White Rock, Surrey & Delta Walk. Read Jim’s story, along with our other honoree stories at www.walkformemories.com.
