Showing their support for a longtime industry colleague, Rick Antonson of Tourism Vancouver, representing others in tourism who have worked with Jim Mann, made a $5,000 donation to the Alzheimer Society of B.C. at the non-profit organization’s recent annual general meeting.
Jim Mann had a 25-year career in the tourism industry specializing in government relations and marketing communications and was the first full-time president and CEO of the Council of Tourism Associations in British Columbia. He was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s disease in 2007 and remains active as a board member for the Society in B.C. and its national federation, the Alzheimer Society of Canada. He often speaks at public events as part of his work as an Alzheimer Advocate helping to break down the barriers of stigma associated with the illness and educating the public about the disease.
