Global TV National will be airing a special series beginning Monday, Mar. 14 about Alzheimer’s disease. A live blog, featuring posts from experts and those who are directly affected by the disease, will launch on the same day as the interactive component of the special series. The series includes an interview with local caregiver and support group volunteer Dolores Hay.
The series is called "Broken Connections" and it is an in-depth look at the growing issue of Alzheimer's disease. “To dispel existing stigmas and keep the focus on person-centred care, we need to ensure there is an understanding of the disease so that the dialogue can grow and solutions can be found,” says Jean Blake, CEO of the Alzheimer Society of B.C. “By creating awareness about the dementia journey and keeping it in the forefront of health-based discussions, we are helping to inform families, to make informed decisions, and to prepare for the future.”
