Research tells us that we are never too young or too old to take action in defense of our own brain health. On Friday, April 30 Judy Bourne, Support and Education Coordinator for the Alzheimer Society of B.C. will present the seminar, “The Healthy Brain – What you need to know” at the 18th annual Vancouver Wellness Show.
Using a mind, body, spirit approach the seminar looks at the three key areas for participants to focus on to maintain their brain health and reduce their risk for Alzheimer’s disease and related dementias.
“This holistic way of looking at brain health includes a group of lifestyle factors such as exercise, healthy eating, mental fitness, social connections and hobbies that all contribute to keeping our brains in shape,” said Bourne.
Part of the Living Well Seminars, this presentation also offers information about the difference between age-related memory problems and dementia, known risk factors for the disease, and health measures that we can integrate into our daily routines for our brain health at all stages of our lives.
“We know that healthy lifestyle habits that are good for the body’s health will also support good mental fitness and a healthy brain,” said Bourne.
The seminar takes place from 3:30 pm - 4:30 pm on Friday, April 30 at the Vancouver Convention Centre. If you have any questions or want additional information Judy will also be sharing a booth with the Independent Times at the Wellness Show until 8 pm on Friday evening.
