Each of the Walks is dedicated to an Honouree – a person who has been impacted by Alzheimer’s disease or a related dementia.

This Investors Group Walk for Memories was dedicated to Gesina (Tina) Boyne.

Growing up in the Netherlands during World War II, Gesina (Tina) Boyne suffered hardship and hunger. After marrying her husband, Rein, she was determined not to raise a child in war, so the couple immigrated to Canada and eventually settled in Prince George. Tina was devoted to helping others. She worked in the service industry, and as a volunteer in her community.

Tina’s diagnosis of Alzheimer’s disease in 1997 only made her more committed to living out her days for the benefit of others. She passed away in May 2008.

This is your opportunity to show you care, and honour Tina’s memory.

“The Alzheimer Society gave us both emotional and physical support,” said Tina’s daughter, Maria Duperron. “Mom was a kind and gentle spirit who loved people, especially children or those with a handicap or disorder. Being named honouree for this year’s Investors Group Walk for Memories allows her legacy of giving to continue.”
