2011 Vernon Walk

Each of the Walks is dedicated to an Honouree – a person who has been impacted by Alzheimer’s disease or a related dementia.

The 2011 Vernon Investors Group Walk for Memories was dedicated to Margery Wilde.

Margery Wilde loved teaching and taking on the challenges of being a substitute teacher in the school district. She volunteered in the Vernon Secondary School library and also spent many summers judging crafts and sewing at the Interior Provincial Exhibition in Armstrong. As an avid hiker and skier she was often enjoying the natural beauty and wonders of the great outdoors.

Though Margery passed away in 2009, we are honouring her memory and the challenges she faced with dementia. This year’s Walk also honours her daughter Nancy Wilde who as a family caregiver and volunteer has been a supporter of the Alzheimer Society of B.C. for many years.

"Our family has benefitted from amazing support from the Alzheimer Society of B.C.," says Nancy. "Their compassion and knowledge has helped us through many challenging times."
