2011 Nelson Walk
Each of the Walks is dedicated to an Honoree – a person who has been impacted by Alzheimer’s disease or a related dementia.
The 2011 Nelson Investors Group Walk for Memories was dedicated to Isadore McLaughlin.
Known to family and friends as ‘Issy’, Isadore P. McLaughlin was born in Trail, B.C. on February 19, 1925. He began his successful career as a printer and business manager at the Trail Daily Times. In 1974 he moved to Nelson and purchased his own business, McLaughlin Printing.
Known for his tireless work ethic Isadore always maintained a wonderful relationship with his wife of 62 years, Grace, and their four children. His strengths lay in his outstanding honesty and integrity. He was an active member of the Nelson community and generously gave to local charities. His family fondly remembers the contentment he found in relaxing in his favourite chair, reading a novel and listening to one of his collectable big band albums.
Isadore’s family turned to the Alzheimer Society after his diagnosis. “The Society has always been supportive and informative on the issues of the disease,” says Grace. “Having a support system in our community to exchange worries, concerns and ideas has been a huge help to the family.”
