Nanaimo Walk

Each of the Walks is dedicated to an Honouree – a person who has been impacted by Alzheimer’s disease or a related dementia.

The 2011 Nanaimo Investors Group Walk for Memories was dedicated to Cliff Pearson.

Cliff Pearson was born in Nanaimo in 1926 and is a well-known member actively involved in the community in many aspects of the Nanaimo and Cedar areas.

Cliff and Mabel share many common interests and life-long compatibility.  Together they have two sons and one daughter, their spouses, and nine grandchildren.  Both have been active members of the community.

While Cliff can't always recall memories from his past, and has lost short-term memory, his contribution to the community will be remembered: an employee of BC Hydro, Inkster and Roberts Lumber Yard, a teacher at John Barsby Secondary School, Cedar Secondary School, a member of ART10 Gallery, and an active member in both St. Paul's Anglican Church in Nanaimo and St. Philip's Anglican Church in Cedar.

After Cliff was diagnosed with Alzheimer's in 2006, Mabel participated in support groups through the Alzheimer Society of B.C. to help her better understand the journey ahead and learn different ways to adjust and care for Cliff at home.
