2011 Fraser Valley Walk
Each of the Walks is dedicated to an Honouree – a person who has been impacted by Alzheimer’s disease or a related dementia.
The 2011 Fraser Valley Investors Group Walk for Memories was dedicated to Peter Bax.
"Take care of one another," is a phrase often shared by Peter Bax and caring for others has been a big part of his life. As the chef at Canadian Forces Base Chilliwack Peter delivered hot meals to the Armed Forces training bases and catered many formal events that included military dignitaries as guests. On one occasion he was honoured to serve Queen Elizabeth and Prince Philip.
He and his wife Jackie have raised a large family that Peter proudly notes is ever-growing. This includes their six daughters and one son, 13 grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren with two more on the way, and a fifth generation great, great, grandchild.
When Peter was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s disease in 2006 he knew he wouldn’t be alone on the dementia journey. All Bax family members are actively participating in the Alzheimer’s Society of B.C. support and education meetings. Peter is honoured to be a part of this year’s Walk.
