2010 Chetwynd Walk

Each of the Walks is dedicated to an Honouree – a person who has been impacted by Alzheimer’s disease or a related dementia.

The 2011 Chetwynd Investors Group Walk for Memories was dedicated to Gary Moore.

Gary moved to Chetwynd in 1958 where he met his lifetime love Audrey and became proud parents of two daughters and grandparents to four grandchildren. He enjoyed the rugged outdoors and each year looked forward to an annual goose hunt in Saskatchewan almost as much as he enjoyed his favourite day of the year: Christmas.

After Gary’s diagnosis in 2004 the family turned to the Alzheimer Society of B.C. for help. "The support group for caregivers gave us our first outlet for sharing feelings, and learning about the disease," says Audrey "Now we will celebrate Gary’s life on Christmas, his favourite day of the year and the day his battle with dementia ended."

Gary is remembered as an avid outdoorsman and someone who was always there to lend a hand to support a friend or neighbor.
