Our Vancouver Resource Centre, soon to be located at 8th Avenue and Quebec Street, requires volunteer Resource Centre Assistants.  At least a 6 month commitment is required and preference will be for individuals who are able to do one 3 hour work shift each week (12 hours per month), either 10am to 1pm, or 1pm to 4pm.

The Resource Centre Assistants report to the Support and Education Coordinator for Vancouver.  They will also work with, and receive some direction from, the Dementia Helpline Coordinator and the Support and Education Facilitator. 

Duties:

In addition to reception duties (telephone and walk-in visitors), volunteers will be responsible for general office duties such as filing, photocopying, brochure re-stocking, resource library loans (books, videos, etc...) preparation/organization of education and presentation materials, and data entry.

Qualifications:
  • Criminal Record Check
  • Excellent interpersonal skills for working with members of the public
  • Must have clear speaking voice, both for telephone callers who may be hard of hearing and for clients in person
  • Able to work with a high degree of confidentiality
  • Must be reliable
  • Must have intermediate level of ability with Microsoft Office Word.  Knowledge of Excel would be helpful
