** We are currently recruiting for the Richmond AND for Victoria  First Link volunteers.**

First Link
® is an early intervention service designed to connect individuals and families affected by Alzheimer's disease or a related dementia with services and support as soon as possible after diagnosis.

Following up on referrals from health professionals, First Link makes initial outreach calls and follow up calls to these individuals or their family to ensure they have the opportunity to be connected with information, education and support in their community.

The First Link Support Volunteer will:

  • Under the direction of the First Link Coordinator, make outreach telephone calls to individuals diagnosed with a dementia, or their family members
  • Discuss with the individual or caregiver, what type of resources may be most appropriate to their needs
  • Provide support, suggest appropriate resources (brochures, handouts, etc.), and make referrals to ASBC and other community programs as appropriate.
